At exactly 10:01 a.m. today, our Chief Marketing Officer Candace Matthews joined Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and Orlando Magic CEO Bob Vander Weide and President Alex Martins to officially open the Amway Center.
More than 2,000 people turned out for this morning’s opening and another 1,001 were expected atop the Amway Center parking garage to create the world’s biggest human smiley face. About 26,000 Orlando residents scored tickets to a Community Open House on October 2.
But these numbers pale in comparison to the millions who will visit the Amway Center each year for major sporting, entertainment and other events, starting with the first concert by the Eagles on October 7 and the first Orlando Magic home game October 10.
Spectators will see our brand on the biggest scoreboard around and all over the most technologically advanced and sustainably-built arena in the country. Visitors will get to know our health and nutrition brand at the Nutrilite Magic Fan Experience.
And coverage of events at the Amway Center will bring our brand to a global audience that numbers in the hundreds of millions.
But we plan on being more than just the name on the building in Orlando. We recently partnered with the Orlando Magic to plant a garden at the Universal Boys and Girls Club to help kids learn the importance of eating right. You’ll see us involved in other community projects over time.
Because as thrilled as we are to see our name on the Amway Center, we’re equally excited to be part of the Orlando community.
